 How to: define mandatory fields

Description:
There are many situations where we need to present the user with a form that has mandatory fields.
This article will explain how Administrator can set fields as mandatory.
informUp's rules engine is very powerful and enable you to define mandatory fields depending on fields values or events in the system.
(e.g. Define title and description as mandatory fields for any item, if a bug was fixed then 'fixed in version' and 'fixed in build' cannot be empty)

How to define mandatory fields:

  1. Login as Admin.
  2. In the Administrator Panel open the Manage Rules window.
  3. In the Rules Type choose Mandatory Field.
  4. For simple rule (set field to be mandatory with no dependencies) use the Add Action button.
  5. For complex rule (rule trigger on specific event like: The fields 'Fixed in Build' & 'Fixed in Version' cannot be empty if value of Status is 'Fixed') use the Add Rule button to define the rules and then the Add Action to define the mandatory fields.
